Former Spanish Football Association (FA) president, Luis Rubiales, has been issued a three-year ban from all football-related activities by the global governing body, Fifa.

The disciplinary action comes as a consequence of a contentious post-match incident that unfolded after Spain’s victory in the Women’s World Cup final against England. During the trophy presentation, Rubiales kissed forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips, a gesture that sparked considerable debate and controversy.

While Fifa has allowed a ten-day window for Rubiales to request a motivated decision, his options include pursuing an appeal before the Fifa appeal committee.
