IGT Mourns the passing of Chief Fabio Cairoli

Fabio Cairoli, the CEO of Global Lottery at International Game Technology (IGT), has tragically passed away, leaving a void in the industry. Cairoli’s career at IGT spanned several significant roles, including CEO of IGT Italy, where he oversaw various aspects of the company’s operations in the country. His tenure at IGT began in 2012 when he joined the Lottomatica Group S.p.A., IGT’s predecessor, as senior vice president of business.

Renowned for his passion, dedication, and commitment to innovation, Cairoli was highly regarded within the industry. His leadership in areas such as Global Lottery Sales and Operations, Italy Lottery Operations, Global Lottery Product and Sales Development, and Global Lottery Technology and Support was unparalleled. While the capable and experienced team members continue to manage these operations, Cairoli’s personal connections and respected friendships within and beyond the industry are deeply felt.

IGT’s executive chair, Marco Sala, expressed his condolences to Cairoli’s family during this difficult time. Sala emphasized Cairoli’s exceptional qualities as an executive, highlighting his drive, sincerity, and commitment to results and innovation.

Over 20 years of experience in multinationals

Before joining IGT, Cairoli had an impressive career in the consumer goods industry, accumulating over 20 years of experience in multinational organizations. He held positions such as group general manager and board member at Bialetti Industrie, where he successfully orchestrated a business turnaround by implementing strategic refocusing, optimizing the product portfolio, reducing costs, and strengthening retail presence. Cairoli also contributed to the growth of notable companies such as Julius Meinl Italia and Motorola Mobile Devices Italy throughout different stages of his professional journey.

Prior to his time at Bialetti, Cairoli served as the general manager of Star Alimentare, an Italian food company. He also made valuable contributions during his tenure at Kraft Foods, assuming various roles in Italy and the UK over a decade.

Tragically, Cairoli is reported to have passed away due to a heart attack while he was on his yacht. The loss of this remarkable executive has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the industry, as his legacy of passion and dedication continues to inspire those who knew and worked with him.
