Illinois introduces Bill 3142 for online casino

From sports betting to online casino – Illinois lawmakers are pushing for the legalisation of online casino

Illinois legislators, Robert Rita (below) and Jonathan Carroll, have filed a bill to legalise online casino gaming. Bill 3142 – The Internet Gaming Act – allows land based casinos to apply for online gaming licences.

Robert Rita Illinois online gaming - SiGMA NEWSOnce these casinos acquire an online gaming licence, they will be able to work with a maximum of three internet management service providers and offer online casino games to those 21 and above.

The newly proposed licence for online gaming includes a set fee of $500,000 together with a $250,000 charge for renewal.

Robert Rita also proposed that online casinos will be subject to the same tax as sports betting operators, amounting to 12% on profits.

This new move will certainly boost Illinois’ revenues. The state, home to Chicago, has already burst onto the scene ranking in at number 4 in our top 10 US states for sports betting.

There is certainly a market for online casinos to prosper. It will definitely help Illinois cement its place in the iGaming industry and close the gap to Nevada and New Jersey.
