SiGMA’s inaugural African expo opens its doors in Kenya

Kenya government representative Peter Mbugi, Director at the Betting Control and Licensing Board to give a keynote focusing on regulation of the Kenyan gaming market.?

SiGMA Kenya, which kicks off this morning, is SiGMA’s first event in Africa, with the Kenyan expo marking the start of what will be a busy calendar year for the company.?

Attendees can look forward to a carefully curated expo floor, with exhibitors representing some of the best in the business. A conference agenda powered by top tier thinkers will tackle the trends and challenges facing Africa’s diverse gaming marketplace – taking on topics such as regulation, compliance, as well as the rise of online gaming. The second day will look at esports and sportsbetting – with a focus on web strategy, as well as payment solutions.

Kenya government to send delegates from the Betting Control and Licensing Board

Kenya Ministry-SiGMASpeakers will also include Mr. Peter Mbugi, Director at the Betting Control and Licensing Board, who will grace the stage with a keynote, John Kamau Kungu, Co-founder BetConsult Africa, and Richard Monday, Vice President of Opera.

A number of directors, board members, and gaming inspectors from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s Betting Control and Licensing Board will also be in attendance, including Dr. Jane Makau, the Board Chair.

At 13.20 pm the startup pitch contestants will battle it out for valuable mentorship opportunities – catch pitches for all three verticals; SiGMA, AIBC, and AGS on the main stage. Winners will be announced live at 3.00 pm.?

A three-day metaverse-focused hackathon, which started on the 16th and is hosted by Metaverse Architects, is already in full swing, with 86 participants working to solve problems and learn to develop on the world’s only open source, decentralized protocol that powers the Decentraland Metaverse.?

The hackathon saw unprecedented interest, with over 150 applicants vying for a spot, capturing a growing interest across Africa in blockchain technology.

Delegates will gather later this evening for networking drinks, before sitting down to Mediterranean-inspired cuisine at the Harvest restaurant.
